At Alexir, we focus on using a wide range of natural fibre carton boards that are naturally compostable and sourcing a range of compostable barrier boards specifically for the food industry.
We are at the forefront of developing biodegradable and compostable coatings that continue to support the industry, being aware of the environmental impacts of all types of both carton board and plastic packaging.
To this end, we developed a range of ‘totally’ compostable packaging including a Bioplast Pot and a series of printed cartons and trays with windows that conformed to EN13432, (Products made of Compostable Materials) through Din Certco test laboratory.
This range of packaging was taken to the retail market through M&S Organic range, supporting the industry’s need for a totally compostable pack and important Environmental Strategies.
Alexir have a senior representative working on the UK’s Recycling Packaging Group (UKRPG) whose main aim, liaising with the NNFCC and DEFRA, is to develop and drive compostable improvements including the Home Composting Logo that in turn will help the UK meet the renewable energy targets.
