Alexir Partnership announced winners of the BPIF Excellence Award for Innovation

Sep 27, 2012

Alexir Partnership are proud to have been awarded a BPIF Excellence Award in Innovation for the development and production of Premier Foods’ Batchelors Deli Box.

In a category dominated by plastic pots, Premier Foods wanted shelf presence for their range of Batchelors pot snacks. The “Deli Box”, developed by Alexir for Premier Foods, delivers excellent shelf-presence, practical use, fantastic branding and crucially stands out from the crowd.

The Deli Box concept ensures fitness for purpose combined with the ability to be packed at speed on the production line.  The resulting product can safely hold boiling water; prevents the contents leaching into the board; is sealed to avoid contamination in the supply chain but also opens easily for the consumer. It also allows branding to be displayed 360 degrees - a huge benefit against the traditional pot snack format which can only be branded on face and top.

Most of this product category is traditionally packaged in 100% plastic containers.  The Deli Box range is made using virgin fibre board from sustainable forests and is widely recyclable in the UK.

From concept to shelf The Alexir Partnership conceived, designed and manufactured the packaging, as well as blending, filling and packing the dried food content at its co-packing facility.

Tom Sene, Sales Director at Alexir Partnership said: “We are thrilled to have partnered the Premier Foods team on this project, the results speak for themselves as it is a true representation of how, when combined, the Alexir partnership play a key role with its clients when bringing a new product to market.”

Jon Burton, Brand Director at Batchelors said "We’ve been thrilled with the success of the new launch which combines innovative packaging with a strong brand. The Alexir Partnership has been fantastic to work with and we expect the Batchelors Deli Box range to go from strength to strength".
