The Judo Nash brothers from East Grinstead and sponsored by the Alexir Partnership ended the year on a high.
The two brothers from East Grinstead are on an Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme – a government-funded initiative that has been designed to help young people aged 16 to 18 combine education and sport. Starting six years ago as beginners they are now studying A levels in conjunction with their much-loved sport.
After nine months of trips abroad the two Nash brothers went to a judo event in Holland in October where they both achieved fourth place in their weight categories. Unfortunately Oliver injured his finger in the process and has had twelve weeks with his finger in a splint to fix his tendon. He will be back in full training in January 2017.
Thomas Nash took silver at the Welsh Open in November and a seventh place at the British Championships in his new group Juniors for under twenty one year-olds. The picture shows the Japanese, Russian and Romanian teams with the Nash brothers at the latest international judo camp held at Tonbridge School in December.
“We would like to say a huge thank you for all the support this year from Alexir. We have experienced some great times and learnt a lot. We have travelled around the UK and Europe to competitions and training camps and we could not have one this without the sponsorship from Alexir,” said the Nash Brothers.
