Case Study - Délicieux Chocolat

Sustainable chocolate.

Established in August 2021, Délicieux Chocolat is a small chocolate business based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, founded by award-winning chocolatier, Reece Hunt.

Their company vision is for all to be able to enjoy chocolate in a sustainable way by preserving the land, respecting cacao farmers and monitoring their supply chain. It goes without saying that almost all of their packaging is 100% recyclable as they avoid the use of plastic as much as they can. This includes everything from their mailing boxes to their chocolate bar packaging. They only work with like-minded businesses and came to the Alexir Partnership in search of two new sizes for their chocolate bar packaging. They had a tight deadline of three weeks, due to an event they were sponsoring, and were immediately put in touch with Alexir Digital, who specialise in fast turnaround carton manufacture.

Beautiful brand assets.

However, it was not as straight forward as printing the chocolate bar packaging; Reece, Director at Délicieux Chocolat, had a variety of beautiful brand assets (including patterns, logo and colour themes) but all were in Photoshop and needed converting to Illustrator to make them all work together for printing. Reece commissioned Alexir Creative to manage all the artwork design for the four panels and the back of pack text and positioning.

Before any of the artwork could commence, the constructional designers at Alexir had to create the profile and white samples for the customer approval. Once this was completed our Senior Graphic Designer, Raquel Baumela, was able to convert the brand assets and place on the artwork-ready cutter guides.

Delivery at speed.

Needless to say, the chocolate bar packaging was printed, cut and creased and delivered in time for the sponsored event by Ruth Lusher, our Digital Manager, and her team. Due to the inline digital carton manufacturing process installed at Alexir, low-volume cartons can be manufactured at speed.
