Creating a social explosion for Grenade

The challenge

The Grenade team were investigating concepts for a direct mail campaign to influencers as a one-off promotion for the Gingerbread bars.

Alexir was tasked with suggesting creative concepts that would encourage engagement. 

Alexir Creative got to work on a series of concepts to consider. These included ‘Gingerbread & Ladders’ and ‘Spin the Wheel of Fitness’ games; and a Grenade Cookies kit with a 3D printed Grenade cookie cutter. Grenade’s marketing team also liked the idea of a timed reveal, preventing the product from being opened without specific information that would be released on the launch day, so Alexir Creative also devised one further concept – a carton gym locked with a 3D box clip and a padlock.

The solution

In the end, Grenade decided on an amalgamation of ideas, and a carton ‘Gymgerbread house’ with a cookie cutter in the shape of a muscular Gingerbread man was selected. The Gymgerbread house would contain a couple of the Grenade Gingerbread bars, a cookie cutter and a recipe to bake some cookies.

The profile for the carton was created by Alexir Creative and artwork was placed by the Grenade design team. These were then printed by Alexir Digital in a quick and timely manner. Alexir Creative 3D printed the cookie cutters and all the components were sent to Grenade to pack and send out.

The result

This was a very popular mailout and many influencers created videos showcasing their Gingerbread cooking cut outs. Alexir Creative are now working on Grenade’s third social media campaign – influencers watch this space!
